Two thousand twenty-seven
A love letter to Puglia

We fell for this stretch of the Adriatic. Now we'd like to share it with the people we love most.

Polignano a Mare is built on a shelf of pale limestone above the sea, its houses set right at the edge of the cliffs. Inland, the countryside is stone walls and olive trees that have stood for centuries. In September the sea is still warm and the evenings are made for long tables outside.

We'll open the weekend on Thursday evening with a welcome party at Villa Torre Bianca, marry there among the olive groves on Friday, and spend Saturday by the sea. In between, we hope you'll swim in the coves, linger over lunch and get happily lost in the old town.

This first edition of our site has everything you need to start planning the trip.

Both of our main celebrations take place at Villa Torre Bianca, a historic villa set among olive groves near the Adriatic coast.

Thursday's welcome party and Friday's wedding are both held at the villa. It sits apart from Polignano a Mare's old town, so if you're staying in town, plan on travelling out to the villa on both evenings. We'll share more about getting there with the formal invitation.

Calla lilies, candlelight, and a very long table.

III.Travel & Stay

Getting there and where to rest your head

September is still high season on this coast. We'd suggest booking flights and rooms as soon as you can.

By air BRIBari

Fly into Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport, the closest international airport to Polignano a Mare. From the US, expect to connect through a major European hub.

By taxi or car 45km · about 45 min

Polignano a Mare is around 45 km down the coast from the airport. Taxis and private transfers wait at arrivals, and hire cars are easy to pick up if you plan to explore.

By train FSvia Bari Centrale

Take the airport train into Bari Centrale, then a regional train south to Polignano a Mare station, a short walk from the old town. Allow around an hour and a quarter in total.

Where you'll stay

Polignano a Mare

Most guests will base themselves in or around Polignano a Mare, close to the sea, the restaurants and the old town. It's the best place to spend your days between celebrations.

Where we'll celebrate

Villa Torre Bianca

Thursday's welcome party and Friday's wedding both take place at the villa, which is not within walking distance of town. Please plan on getting to and from the villa on both evenings.

More on getting to the villa will come with the formal invitation.

Where to stay

Our own recommendations will be added to this page. In the meantime, here's how to choose.

The old town

Small hotels, B&Bs and apartments in the centro storico. Step out to the cove, the clifftop terraces and dinner. Rooms tend to be compact, buildings are old, and stairs are common.

Best for: couples, first-timers, anyone who wants to walk everywhere

Around town & along the coastMore space

Beyond the old walls

Hotels and apartment rentals in the newer parts of town and along the coast. Usually more room and easier parking, while staying a short walk or drive from the centre.

Best for: families, longer stays, guests with a car

Masserie & villas

Puglia's restored fortified farmhouses, called masserie, and private villas among the olive groves. Quiet, spacious and lovely for a group sharing a house, but you'll want a car.

Best for: groups of friends, a slower pace, guests staying on
Before you go
When to arrive
Aim to arrive by Wednesday, September 8, so you're rested for Thursday evening's welcome party. Flying from the US usually means an overnight flight and a connection.
Staying on
If you can, add a few days before or after. Puglia's towns, beaches and countryside are worth the time.
Getting around
A car is useful if you stay in the countryside or plan day trips. Polignano's old town is largely pedestrian, so check parking with your accommodation.
Passports
Make sure your passport is valid well beyond your travel dates, and check current entry requirements before you book.
